1/4/12
Apart from baby Aaron we are now full team of women out looking for wasps with Elli, Seirian and myself.
There has been a substantial amount of rain in the morning and we set out for what will become another day hunting Polistes dominulus .
After visiting field after field, clambering over and under fences and battling with the prickly pear we have little success in finding new highly populated sites. Instead we are able to enjoy the warmth rays of sunshine that greet us in the afternoon and the Spanish country side - even Aaron joins in the hunt - who says you can do fieldwork of maternity leave!
At the end of a very "taxing" day hunting for wasps in the sunshine we finish off the day watching the sunset with a pint of G'n'T - how classy! As we wonder through Conil looking for a place to have something to eat with find out way blocked by a large group of people and a brass band playing behind an ornate float of Jesus and Mary being paraded around the town for Palm sunday.
Suddenly a whole new side to Conil has emerged, how different to the town that we arrived in with the worker strike and bared up shops and cafes - this evening the town is alive and bustling with all restaurants open and filled with people getting ready to start the week of Samana Santa (Holy Week)
